Course Description

DevOps is a practical approach to improving the way software is developed, tested, deployed and maintained. This course introduces students to the fundamental tools and workflows used in modern DevOps environments.

The training starts from the basics and gradually moves towards practical workflows involving Linux, Git, GitHub, Docker, CI/CD and Jenkins.

Instead of only explaining concepts, students repeatedly perform the same tasks until they become comfortable working with the tools independently.

  • Work confidently with Linux commands and basic server operations
  • Use Git and GitHub for source code management
  • Understand containers and Docker
  • Create basic CI/CD workflows
  • Use Jenkins for automated build and deployment workflows
  • Understand basic deployment and environment management
  • Troubleshoot common DevOps problems
  • Complete a practical DevOps project

70% Practical Training

DevOps is best learned through repeated hands-on practice. Students will not only learn the concepts but also perform the tasks using practical tools and workflows.

The training follows a step-by-step approach where each activity is demonstrated, practised repeatedly and then applied to a new workplace-style problem.

Practical Training Method

  • Trainer Demonstration — Trainer demonstrates the task.
  • Student Follows — Student performs the same task.
  • Repeat Same Task — Student repeats the task using different examples.
  • New Example — Student applies the skill to a new situation.
  • Independent Exercise — Student completes the task independently.
  • Workplace-Style Task — Student solves a realistic DevOps problem.

Hands-On Practice

  • Linux command practice
  • Git repositories and branching
  • GitHub collaboration
  • Docker container practice
  • CI/CD workflows
  • Jenkins automation
  • Application deployment
  • Troubleshooting
  • Job-oriented assignments
  • Real-world DevOps project

Career & Certification

DevOps skills are useful for software development, cloud, deployment, infrastructure and IT operations careers.

Practical experience with Linux, Git, GitHub, Docker, CI/CD and Jenkins helps learners understand the workflows used in modern software teams.

Career Preparation

Students complete practical assignments, workplace-style tasks and a real-world project to develop confidence working with DevOps tools.

Practical Assessment

The final assessment will focus on the learner's ability to perform practical DevOps tasks, troubleshoot common problems and follow a basic software delivery workflow.

Important Note

DevOps tools and practices continue to evolve. The training therefore focuses on practical fundamentals, transferable workflows and hands-on problem solving rather than depending on one specific tool or platform.
